Nova Scotia and PEI in ten days

Hi everyone, hoping to get some help In planning a trip to Nova Scotia and PEI. We are leaving in August driving from Ontario. We will have 14 days in total leaving four for driving there and back so 7 days in Nova Scotia and maybe two or three in PEI. What I need help with is the order to do things. We want to ensure we do the Cabot trail, Halifax, Lunenberg, Peggy’s Cove and maybe whale watching - Bay of Fundy. Maybe ambitious for 7or 8 days. I am a first timer and looking for a good way to go about it from
people who have the know how :). Any help is appreciated. I have done some homework but there is probably a better way. I was thinking of spending a few days on the south shore or Halifax as our main base.

Well, I think you have your priorities in order. So make haste as you first target the Cabot Trail, and I suppose I would drive via Montreal and Quebec (city) and then Riviere-du-Loup and Fredericton.

It would be wise to hit Hopewell Cape, NB on the way IN, so that you will have seen it.

Maybe spend 2 nights in Baddeck, with the full circuit of the Cabot Trail in between. (alternative is the 2nd night in either Ingonish or Cheticamp)

Next stop is Halifax. From there I think Lunenburg is perhaps best done as a day trip, with dinner at Peggy's Cove on the way back?

(alternatively, the {3rd night} in Lunenburg, and then the next two nights in Halifax)

I guess 2 nights in Halifax, considering your time constraints.

Or MAYbe the (3rd and 4th nights IN Halifax, the 5th in Lunenburg, and the 6th and 7th at/near Annapolis Royal or someplace of your choosing not far from the Fundy shore).

From there you go to PEI for a couple of nights, most likely near to Charlottetown, and then begin the drive back home.

(perhaps you go via Miramichi on the way home)

I'm sure your own whims will determine more of this than I ever could, and that is how it should be.
