Nova Scotia and PEI highlights in 6days

Hi, I am looking for advice on coordinating a trip for family of 3 adults. We have not made our plane arrangements, but after reading forums, we may need to fly into Halifax and out of Moncton. We like varied activities (water, bikes, tour guides, art, nature, history, food). The first two night will be in Halifax. We will get in late on Monday evening July 13 and wondered how difficult it would be to get transportation to Courtyard Marriott downtown. Any suggestions on must see and best travel routes to maximize time would be very helpful. We will need to fly back to Charlotte on Sunday July 19.

Take a cab from the airport.

July 13 and 14 in Halifax.
July 15 and 16 in Baddeck. Do a day trip around the Cabot Trail through CBHighlands National Park.
July 17 and 18 Moncton or area, depending on flight time. Day trip to Fundy National Park.

This is a pretty aggressive itinerary but doable with adults. Enjoy your trip.

Ah, I see you want to do PEI.

Hmmn. It is possible, just, if your flight on the 19th leaves around 1.30 p.m or later.

Head to Moncton on the 17th as before but detour east across the Confederation Bridge. Stay 2 nights in Charlottetown. Do a day trip to PEI National park (very easy drive from Ch'town.)

On the 19th: It's a 2 hour drive Charlottetown to Moncton airport. Allow an hour for the unexpected difficulty. That leaves you with 90 minutes to 2 hours in advance of a 1:30 flight depending on when you leave Ch'town.

This is again a very aggressive itinerary, but one must play the cards one has.

Cost of taxi from airport to downtown Halifax is $63.00 Canadian. Allow approximately 5 hours from Halifax to Baddeck.

The airport is quite far from Halifax, hence the expensive cab ride.
Are you not renting a car for your trip?? That would be your best bet--rent a car and drive to halifax!

Hi and thanks so much for the advice. I am renting a car at the airport. We will arrive at midnight on July 13, so we will drive toward Truro I think. They are interested in rafting and thought this might be a good spot July 14 morning. Then drive toward Moncton and spend July 14 and 15. Do Bay of Fundy National Park. Leave on July 16 for Charlottetown and do PEI July 16 &17. Head toward Halifax on Sat. 18 and plane leave at 3pm on Sun19. I am not sure if we will do the Cabot Trail due to time. Any advice on this plan greatly appreciated. I am trying to decide if I should not do PEI or go to Cape Breton instead?
