My friend and I are thinking of travels in aug.. Would Canada Nova Scotia be a good place to go in aug?

If so what would you recommend doing?

Your options are endless. Nova Scotia is quite beautiful. A wonderful place to enjoy outdoor activities and gorgeous sea views. What do you like to do?

August is a lovely time to visit Nova Scotia. I recommend you visit Annapolis Royal, Halifax, Lunenburg. If you have time the Cabot Trail is wonderful. Enjoy yourself.

I did some whale watching on my last trip and visited one winery. I am going to top my trip report for you.

On an earlier visit my husband and I spent almost the entire week up on Cabot Trail. The hiking is splendid.

Gaspereau Winery or Jost Winery both are very interesting
The Cabot Trail is spectacular anytime. There are some nice beaches too in Port Hood area just off the trail that make a great stop.
Fortress of Louisburg is great if you like history.
Glenora Distillery near Mabou is a very interesting stop.
Halifax Farmers Market

Did you order the Doers and Dreamers Guide? Check on the NS tourism website to see how to order it. It will lay out for you the drives by area and show you all there is to offer!

another question: Is NS a back pack kind of trip or a suitcase?

hmmm thats a tough question. Are you driving? If so I would use a suitcase. You might want a small backpack for day hikes.

I'd like to understand where you are from in order to better contrast what you know with what Nova Scotia can offer.

Nova Scotia's finest appeal just might lie in the fact that it isn't on the way to anywhere, and thus it isn't overrun by society. Even the biggest roads there away from the cities are like "country roads".

Lots of magnificent water and scenery and it makes for a good trip because it is somewhere special, and probably not someplace that you're likely to just happen through at a later date.

DH and I loved our two weeks in Nova Scotia last August. (I know, doing a trip report here is still on my list.) We rented a car and stayed in Lunenberg, Wolfville, Pictou, Baddeck, Neil's Harbour, and Halifax. Highlights were hiking on Cape Breton, walking around the beautiful little towns like Lunenberg, and doing a Bird Island boat ride. We also loved the Alexander Graham Bell Museum. We were under-whelmed by the Bay of Fundy and we chose not to go to Louisburg on this trip.

Thank you everyone. Ok, so my friend droped out and no longer can do it. Is this something I can do on my own? I do not drive so would it be hard?

Although there is a transit system in NS, getting around would be difficult. If you wanted to simply see Halifax, then yes, alone would be ok.
