Nova Scotia 10 days July Couple for Relaxation and Nature

Good day. I have ordered the guide from NovaScotia.Com, other than that haven't done much research. I have approximately 10 days from July 4th - July 14th. I will fly into Halifax and probably out of Halifax as well as it seems the cheapest. We are open to Prince Edward Island or NB.

It is my husband and myself traveling mid 30's. We do not drink and are not interested in wineries and such. We are very casual and love seafood and international foods but don't care for dress-up/fancy places. We like great food, but prefer casual or hole in the wall type places and cooking for ourselves.

My main goal is relaxation and to be in nature, so I don't want to just be driving from place to place the entire time. Ideally, we would have 2 "base camps" from where to explore, possibly 3. I usually rent on VRBO or HomeAway so we don't typically prefer hotels or B&Bs - we prefer renting a small cabin or home. The more private and in nature, the better, but open to a nice home in a small town. I would be ok with a night or so in Halifax at the start or end of the trip, but prefer outside of the city. A hot tub or pool is a high priority, a hammock in the trees is great too. During the day we would like to stay in an area where we can take leisurely drives, go to the beach, parks, etc.

If there is warmer water or any place at all that we could swim (I know, its probably too cold), then I would be interested in some beach days. We are entertaining the idea of whale watching (not sure about time of year) and/or a fishing trip. We don't really hike, but enjoy walks (not too rugged) along dirt paths/trails.

I realize week of July 4th is probably not ideal for crowds, but is it sparse enough that we can still get away from people and relax.....

I hope this paints a picture of what our goal is and I'm open to hearing some ideas of possible base camps. We have not made any plans/reservations and our dates are even a bit open. Thanks in advance for any that take the time to reply. Have a great one!

FYI, can't figure out how to delete this post, but we decided to go to Banff/Jasper instead - so this post is no longer valid. But feel free to reply for next year!
