Niagra Falls, Canada
Hi,
We are going to be staying at a hotel in Niagra Falls, Canada from the 11-15 of September. We have a 2 1/2 year old. I just needed some info on some things to do in that area besides seeing the falls. I also wanted to know if anyone can recommend some family friendly restraunts to eat at there. Thanks for the help! |
There is tons to do. Clifton Hill is like a carnival midway with "fun house" type attractions; Maid of the Mist boat tour; Journey Behind the Falls tour; Butterfly Conservatory; Whirlpool Aero Car; etc. For a good list and description, check out the Niagara Parks website: http://www.niagaraparks.com/
You can also pick up the Adventure Pass for a discounted price - it can save a decent amount of money: http://tinyurl.com/2888zq For restaurants, they are fairly expensive, but you have lots of options: Hard Rock Cafe, Boston Pizza, Denny's, etc. With a 2-1/2 year old, I would probably keep a bunch of healthy snacks handy to feed him/her often and keep the cost of food down. The kids I know that age never finish their plates and are hungry again 10 minutes later (after you paid $5-$10 for the meal they didn't eat). P.S. It's spelled Niagara :) |
Junior would probably enjoy the Maid of the Mist -- kids love boats, and the spray would be fun, even for an almost-baby.
And the Butterfly Conservatory. There''s a park to run in in Niagara on the Lake -- Fort George. BAK |
sladkaya, Niagara Falls locals head out to Lundy's Lane to eat rather than Clifton Hill. Carpaccio's has good Italian food and Italians love bambinos. 6840 Lundy's Lane, 905-371-2063. Another homey, popular spot with locals is Lawrenceville on Highway 55 in Virgil. 1502 Niagara Stone Road, 905-468-4333
My grandchildren love to visit Happy Rolph's Bird Sanctuary along Lake Ontario on Read Road, off Lakeshore Road on the outskirts of St. Catharines. It's a very happy place. Afterwards, continue westward along Lakeshore Drive to Port Dalhousie for Lakeside Park. There's a beach and picnic area but the prime attraction is the carousel, still only 5 cents a ride. |
Thanks everyone for all the helpful info.
