Niagra Falls

Planning a weekend trip to Niagara Falls on the Canadian side (driving in from USA). Best hotels, places to eat, activities? Never been before and we are meeting extended family there. TIA.

Every hotel chain has properties in the Falls... many families choose Embassy Suites for location and Falls view... If you are gamblers or a couple without kids, consider Fallsview Casino and Resort across from Embassy.

Must do activities should include Maid of the Mist and Cave of the Winds on the US side... and Whirlpool Jetboats on both sides... a walk across the Rainbow Bridge can be fun (bring passports)... if there are kids,Clifton Hill is the Arcade and wax museum carny area.

Most eateries near the Falls are overpriced and poor quality... head for Niagara on the Lake... the NotL Golf Course, Harp Irish Pub, Olde Angel Inn Pub, offer casual food... for fine dining, Hildebrand, Peller, Tredwell, On the Twenty, and Escabesche are pricey but high quality.

There are also over 100 wineries in the area if your group enjoys tastings and tours

Have fun.

Thanks garyt22. We will be traveling with kids (11 & 13) so no gambling. Definitely would like a view and I appreciate the food suggestions. Friends have suggested Niagara on the Lake as well so need to dig into that area for food.

We will be driving from Bucks County PA to Niagara Falls (Canadian side).....anyone have suggestions for stops along the way?

Watkins Glen State park is a great stop... you can park at the bottom of the trail and take a bus up to the top... you then walk back down to your car... amazing hike that can be done on the way...

You can then drive up the lake and either take the scenic route 20 or jump on the highway I90 west...

You could also head up to Cooperstown on the way, depending on how long you have... the Corning Glass museum... or several historical sites...
