Niagara / Niagara on the Lake dining - local flavor
Hello! We are going to be in Niagara Falls, ON this month and need some recommendations for two dinners. Don't want the tourist traps or expensive cuisine. Just a good meal at a decent price...we don't mind paying for a good meal and great service! 
We like all type of food. Would like to support local restaurants over a chain. Thanks for all suggestions in advance!

We have really enjoyed the popular (with locals as well as visitors) Stone Road Grille in Niagara-on-the-Lake (reserve ahead). But as garryt recommended, we have also often enjoyed the Olde Angel Inn for a more casual meal.
Niagara Falls is full of chain restaurants. There used to be a handful of good local Italian restaurants, but the ones we knew seemed to slip (or close) over the years - maybe someone else has a recommendation. Out of the chain restaurants we often choose the Keg Steakhouse in the Embassy Suites Hotel which overlooks the Falls (there is another Keg that does not) - decent consistent food at moderate prices and they have items other than steak on the menu (they can get very busy with prebooked hotel/meal packages so best to reserve ahead here too, several days, although they do keep tables open for walk-ins but there can sometimes be a lengthy wait).
A number of the wineries in the surrounding wine district have very good restaurants, although they tend to be pricey, but you might want to check them out online.

I will throw in my recommendations. Of course the Angel Inn and The Irish Harp are local favourites. The pricing and selection are good and they both offer a good selection of beers.
They are our go-to places when just wanting a casual meal.
If you want to keep your expenses down I suggest hitting the wineries for lunch which is more reasonably priced than dinner. I would recommend Ravine Winery or 13th St winery. Both also have small bakeries.
Or you could stop in at Willow Pastries at the corner of Niagara Stone Road and Mary St in Niagara on the Lake and pick up a sandwich and sweet to take on a picnic which many of the wineries encourage. Willow is very very good in a dangerous way!
We have had variable meals at the Niagara on the Lake golf course but if the weather is good they have a wonderful patio on the lake and offer burgers and lighter dinners which is great.

I really liked Ravine Winery for their mussels, but I looked at their website and their menu has changed. No more mussels? 
I prefer The Irish Harp to the Angel Inn, but really both are fine.
I'm looking for dinning ideas for our annual fall trip as well. We are staying at the Harbour House which I'm really excited about. We get a $50 gift card to Zee's or The Charles Inn.
Also, I've been recommended The Old Winery Restaurant on here before as well, but we've never gone.
