Niagara Falls Restaurant Suggestions ???
 

Heading to Niagara Falls next week, staying at the Embassy Suites and was wondering what restaurants would be best for a family of four ( 2 parents & children aged 18 & 14) ?

There's a KEG steakhouse in your hotel with a fallsview... a brand new Margaritaville across the street.... every chain you can imagine... theres also a food court at the Casino across the street in the non-gambling area as well as a deli and Pub and a sportsbar... all within walking distance... I would wander the area when you get there and let the kids pick...

Are there any local non-chain restaurants that you could recommend?
Also how about any local high tea places???

You can get in the car and drive out to Niagara on the Lake for better dining... more casual include Angel Inn Pub, The Harp Pub, Epicurian sandwiches, Zee's, Shaw cafe, Old Winery and along the Niagara Parkway golf course restaurant...

Fancier and pricier include Peller Winery, Hillebrand Winery, Prince of Wales Escabesche, Strewn Winery, Culinary Institute, and a bit farther drive for Vineland Winery, Penninsula Ridge Winery, On the Twenty...

For Tea, Most noted and formal is the Prince of Wales ... very beautiful restaurant... where the Queen stayed...

I am guessing that we need to dress up nice for High tea at the Prince of Wales correct?
I will look up the casual places you recommend!

dgmr45, You have referred a few times in a few of your recent posts to "High Tea". I don't think it is "An Event" in the sense that you are anticipating. You certainly do not have to dress up! It probably involves stopping in for a cup of tea & a scone or something light. Perhaps you shd call the Prince of Wales or some such place & get a more detailed description. I don't want you & your family to be disappointed.

dgmr45, I was curious about High Tea so I just called The Prince of Wales Hotel : (905)468-3246.

This is what I was told. They do serve "High Tea" b/t 12:00PM-5:00PM daily. High Tea is served in a room that is separate from the main dining room. Along with your selection of tea, they serve "bite sized" sandwiches, scones & pastries on a 3 tiered plate. Cost is $32.00 per person plus taxes & gratuity. Reservations are recommended. There is no dress code.

just so you know... the Prince of Wales by nature is a fancier property... You may be uncomfortable in Shorts and Flip-flops as many of the "High Tea" crowd is dressed for the Theatre... but who knows nowadays?...

also if you have a type of dining experience you are seeking... let us know... we can be more specific...

I also found Queen Charlotte Tea Room in Niagara Falls offers high tea for $15.00 but they aren't open everyday.
Sounds it would be fun to check out.
Regarding restaurants..
I tend to say away from big chain restaurants as they are anywhere..
I like the local mom/pop and have no particular favorite foods although I do really like Mediterranean. seafood and Middle East food the best! :)
I hear that there is some Brazilian Grill not far from the Embassy Suites that sounds pretty good and also well Sandstone Grill

I have had High Tea at the Prince of Wales many times. It's not very dressy. I was dressed casually in jeans. The High Tea is very good and very filling. There is a restaurant in the Niagara Hilton called Brasa which is terrible. It's Brazillian style where they carve the meat at your table. My husband has been to several restaurants of this type in North America and he was very disappointed. It's expensive and not good.
