Niagara Falls long weekend
 

I am planning a 3 night weekend in Niagara falls at the end of June. I am looking for an inexpensive place to stay in walking distance to the falls. I am not very picky but prefer a clean place. It seems there are some hotels that offer packages that include different activities. It will just be my husband and I and we plan to go to Marine world one day(we'll drive), visit the falls another day including maid of the mist, journey behind the falls, and the white water walk. I have found several packages that offer what I am looking for but for much more than I would like to pay. Any suggestiosnf or places to stay or does any one know of any go promotions that run through June? Besides the above activities any other suggestions?

Although I haven't done it yet, I have the Brock Plaza booked for one night next weekend. It's not as close as the Skyline, but the Skyline was all booked.

They have specials and also you can get them on Hotwire and Priceline through bids even cheaper. I did 3 star Section A and got the Brock for $55. Their rack rate is much more.

Some of the reviews are bad on Travelocity etc. but there are always some bad reviews. Also there are mostly excellent reviews. It's an older hotel, built 1929 with about 18 or 19 floors and it does have some great views and is walking distance for most of the venues you mentioned. I think there may be a Doubletree close as well.

I'll post when I return how the Brock was.

If you enjoy wine, we just got back yesterday from Niagara on the Lake and did a bicycle tour visiting four wineries with a picnic lunch included. A wonderful way to see the area at a nice relaxed pace. We used Niagara Wine Tours and could not have been happier.

I am not that frugal, but I believe the term budgetNiagara is an oxymoron.

We went in November and stayed in budget accomodations - Lyons House Hostel (google it) on McGrail Avenue, just a very short walk from the center lookout toward the Canadian Falls.

TheSweeneyParty, if I were you I would do Priceline. You will probably get the Brock Plaza. It is attached to a Casino and a water park now. But if you go get a casino playing card (that took 2 minutes) you will get your parking for nothing.

It's worth it. I saved a bundle doing it. I bid $50 and was rejected and then bid $55 and got it. www.Priceline.com

The rack rate for that hotel is over $110 and most people on the Fallsview rooms had paid $125-145.

I had a Fallsview room at the top where Marilyn Monroe filmed Niagara and it was a real trip. We had the old iron grated elevator.

If you want to be in the thick of things, have an adventure and since it is only you and husband- take a chance and do Priceline.

You will have it charged to a credit card immediately and can not cancel. Believe me, in Niagara it's one of the few ways you will have money left for the venues you mention. They all cost between $15 and $20 per person a piece.

Plus if you book through Priceline, you don't have the GST taxes added. No little thing.
