Toed, I hear you loud and clear....
Is your email the same? did you get my email?

Sorry Faina... didn't mean to hijack...
Let us know what your schedule is once you've booked.

Yes and yes. I just didn't have a chance to reply yet (I need to get off this computer and get ready to have lunch with a friend pretty much immediately or I'm going to be late). I love my trolley too - yesterday, I wheeled my camera gear all over the local nature center with it (22lbs worth).

I dont know of local commuter buses that go between NF, US and NF Canada. Probably because of customs. Frankly, its a real pain to be on a bus or train going through customs. Everyone gets examined and it can take quite awhile. Much better to walk. The walk across the bridge is really beautiful. You get a vantage point to view the Falls that isnt anywhere else. You will need to people movers, trolleys to get around unless you really want to walk a lot. the sights you will want to see are fairly spaced apart. the abreviated itinerary suggested here sounds great.

Do you guys need a good laugh?

I wondered what's the difference between 2 sides in watching the falls.

Just opened the AAA tour book to look at their map - WHAT??? THERE ARE TWO DIFFERENT FALLS NOT ONE????

Huge "DUH" :))

kodi Feb 8th, 2009 12:35 PM

Dayenu, that's funny.
I once took a friend to Niagara Falls for the first time and she was shocked. In her mind she had always thought she'd be standing at the bottom of the falls looking up at them.

toedtoes Feb 8th, 2009 01:00 PM

Dayenu - actually there are THREE falls:

Horseshoe Falls - the one everyone thinks of when they hear Niagara Falls

American Falls - the "U.S" version that really can't be seen unless you stand on the Canadian side

Bridal or Luna Falls - the little "trickle" of a falls next to the American Falls (Luna Island separates it from the American Falls)

Who knew?

Shanghainese Feb 9th, 2009 11:48 AM

I only saw one fall until I went to a different country - crossing the bridge into Canada!

Dayenu Feb 9th, 2009 12:42 PM

Trying to figure out which side. The US side more appealing attraction-wise. The one thing I can't find is how that trolley is running, and if this is the only transportation there.

Anybody has a link to the US side of the trolley? I found the one in Canada without a problem.

It looks, both sides are easily accessible by walking the bridge and taking a trolley there. Doesn't matter where we stay, one day to visit "the other side" may be enough, 2 days will be enough.

Dayenu Feb 9th, 2009 12:57 PM

Never mind, one look at the hotels' reviews and ratings, and I'm convinced :))

Oh, Canada, here we come, eh?

GTG? Any volunteers to drive up/down to the falls?

kodi Feb 9th, 2009 01:35 PM

Dayenu, when?
Also, I'm so glad you decided to come to Canada. Although attractions are great on both sides, the star of the show, the Horseshoe Falls, are best seen from Canada. It would be a shame to come and not enjoy the beautiful view. Also on the Canadian side, you can stand and look over right at the top of the falls. Always thrilling for me.

DO think about Maid of the Mist.

Let us know your dates.

Dayenu Feb 9th, 2009 01:41 PM

We'll arrive Thursday morning May 21, leave Monday May 25 mid-day. Mr Again said "any time!" You see, he met Kal face-to-face, now he is not afraid of any Fodorite :))

I have only air, no hotel yet.

irecommend Feb 9th, 2009 02:02 PM

I would be up to a GTG at the falls. I think there will be others who would love to meet. Moolyn? Kodi, I know you will be there you GTG queen you!

irecommend Feb 9th, 2009 02:04 PM

Also this is Victoria Day weekend so could be a busy spot.

Dayenu Feb 9th, 2009 02:27 PM

Oh, I didn't know about the holiday, thank you, Irecommend! This means, I should make hotel reservations ASAP! Gotta confirm with 3 more before reserving, argghhh... Stay tuned :)

kodi Feb 9th, 2009 02:51 PM

You are ok.. I just checked and the holiday is on the 18th this year. GO figure, Irecommend.

So, that weekend sounds good. Are there 4 of you coming?

I was confused... did you change your name?

kodi Feb 9th, 2009 02:52 PM

Irecommend, so glad to hear you are interested..
I'm getting experienced at GTG's.. Pensacola in 2 weeks.

Dayenu Feb 9th, 2009 03:22 PM

Kodi, yes, changed, I don't want to use my real name Faina any more.

My father and his lady will probably join us. I doubt they will want to GTG, so count the 2 of us: Mr and Mrs Again :))

toedtoes Feb 9th, 2009 06:19 PM

Dayenu - if I pay the $25 each way, would you let me hide in your 2nd suitcase and come with you???

I promise on the way back to make sure your souvenirs go through security and baggage safely. :-d

Dayenu Feb 9th, 2009 07:26 PM

Oh, dear, can you pretend to be Mr Again? I know how much you want to go, should I leave him at home and take you instead?

(I'm at home now, Mr Again says hello :) )

kodi Feb 9th, 2009 07:32 PM

Does Mr.Again know yet that he isn't going to away????
Toed we need you here for a GTg. the other thread isn't getting much action.
