Niagara Falls/ Buffalo
Hi - Iam planning on visiting Toronto next month. Iam flying to the Buffalo Airport (BUF). I wanted to know which is the closest bridge to this airport. I want to cross the bridge by walk. I have a ride from the other side of the bridge. I found that there are several bridges that can used to cross the border and I wanted to know which would be closest and the best to take. I also want to know if there is any kind of public transportation from the airport to the bridge. Thanks

There's a lady who posts on this site called buffalogirl who has good advice on these type questions. Perhaps she'll see your question and respond. I lived in Buffalo for 3 years a few years ago but do not have the specific info you are looking for. The bridge mostly used for pedestrian traffic into-out of Canada is the Rainbow Bridge near the Falls. Suggestion: Go to www.buffalo.com and then click on the link to limosene/airport shuttle. That should give you your answer. Since you are (presumably) not returning promptly to the US side, Canadian immigration will probably ask a few more questions than usual, but should pose no problem. Be sure to have your passport or certified copy of birth certificate and picture ID ready.

While I think all 4 road bridges allow pedestrians, there's really nothing much at the US-side of the northern-most (Queenston-Lewiston); it's also furthest from the Buffalo Airport. I don't know how you can get there except by taxi.
The Peace bridge (southern most) is closest to BUF and Buffalo downtown. However, it's over a mile long. I'd agree with waltd that the most practical will be the Rainbow bridge near the fall. |
I have to agree with the other posters. The closest bridge from the Buffalo Airport is the Peace Bridge. It would be a quick cab ride. However, it would be quite a haul to walk over it (especially if you are lugging as suitcase)! Waltd is correct - The Rainbow Bridge would be the shortest one to walk over (but you would pay quite a bit more taxi fare to get to Niagara Falls).
Why not just take the taxi into Canada? Check out Airport Taxi at http://www.buffaloairporttaxi.com/se...alls%20Shuttle. I just took a quick look at their website and they drop off in Canada. Good luck. |
Thanks All for all the info. I guess I will just take the taxi as all of you have suggested to Canada.
Thanks again. |
