Niagara Falls / border crossing/ Maid of the Mist

Has anyone crossed the border within the last week? Is it truly HOURS and long back-ups?

Also, how easy is it to find places to purchase The Great Gorge Adventure Pass? Are there long lines? We will be at the Embassy Suites.

Unfortunately, we will be on a tight schedule. About how long , including the waiting our turn, should we plan for Maid of the Mist?

THANK YOU!!!

Sandy

We crossed the border two weeks ago and there was no hold up at all. We crossed via Rainbow Bridge. It was a simple crossing both ways - We did not buy the GG Adventure Pass, but I thought we could have bought it through the Concierge at our hotel - the Marriott Courtyard. Your hotel may have the same service. Enjoy your trip......

You can get a better price buying the pass online. This site gives you an extra $3 off the niagaraparks website: http://tinyurl.com/3kowp4

When you buy it online, you will print out your receipt. Then when you get to Niagara Falls, go to the Info and Ticket Booth at the base of Clifton Hill and pick up your ticket book.

For the activities and scheduling, you don't say how long you will be there, when you'll be arriving, departing, what direction you're headed after Niagara Falls, etc.

If you do Maid of the Mist first thing in the morning (9 a.m.), you shouldn't have any trouble - it's the number one thing to do in Niagara Falls, so this way you are certain not to run out of time. Plan your activities by their location along the Niagara Parkway to make efficient use of time.

Using 3 days as a basis, you can do the following:

Day 1 -

In morning get timed ticket for JBTF for around noon, then head straight to Maid of the Mist for an early trip. After MOTM, take a leisurely stroll towards Table Rock enjoying the view. Then do JBTF. Then head over Rainbow Bridge to see Goat Island and do Cave of the Winds. Head back over the bridge in the evening.

Day 2 -

In morning get the People Mover pass and stop along the way doing:

White Water Walk
Whirlpool Aero Car
Butterfly Conservatory
Sir Adam Beck 2 Generating Station
Floral Clock

head back the other way past the falls and see the Floral Showhouse

Day 3 - take a leisurely drive along the parkway to Niagara on the Lake visiting some of the historical sites along the way. Do the Whirlpool Jets. Have dinner in NOTL.

For 2 days, simply move day 3's activities to day 2 and add those sights you like most from the day 2 schedule into the drive towards NOTL.

For 1 day, pick your top 3-4 activities and do just them. In that case, I would choose Maid of the Mist, Cave of the Winds, Journey Behind the Falls and/or Whirlpool Jet Tours.

Sandy, We crossed the weekend of June 7th. No waiting at all going over to Canada. When coming back to the US June 10th, we waited about 10 minutes. We've gone to Canada often and do not remember ever waiting long.

The line for Maid of the Mist moves pretty fast.

We really like the Embassy. We've stayed there twice with Fallsview suites. It is great going to sleep looking at the Falls and waking to them. Make sure you exit the hotel thru the back when going to the Falls. There is a walkway (over the street) that takes you directly to the Incline that takes you directly to the Falls.
