Niagara Falls B&B

Hello: We are traveling to Niagara Falls and are searching for a Romantic Bed & Breakfast for a four night stay in the end of July. My husband and I are looking for any info that might include B&B's that are not Family orientated. I have checked a few B&B's out on the web but they all allow children. Is it possible to find a B&B for adults only? We definitely want to be in close vicinity of the Falls but if that is not possible we will go out of the area. Thanks to all for your anticipated help.

You might want to consider looking for a B&B in Niagara-on-the-Lake, half hour drive north of the Falls.

One of our favorite places to stay is the South Landing Inn, located in Queenston, halfway between NOTL and the Falls. Not a B&B - more a motel, but the rooms are Country Inn gorgeous and comfortable. Breakfast is available in the main inn.

There is a B&B in Niagara on the lake which probably is adult only. I have never stayed there, but will definitely do so in the future, when the time allows. It is called Lakewinds. Check out www.grandestates.niagara.com.

Also, another hotel which I have stayed at and it is wonderful is the Harbour House, also in Niagara on the Lake. I mention it becuase it is rather small and has a very nice atmosphere.

One of the reasons few B&Bs list themselves as "no children" is that some of the ones who did were accused of age discrimination (Crazy!). The problems arose mainly in the US, but their effects have spilled over the border.

Look at the house online, the rooms... Do they look family friendly? If the place looks more like a romantic retreat give the owners a call and ask questions.

I do agree with Jamerin that you may have more luck in Niagara on the Lake. Niagara Falls is geared to families- Niagara on the Lake definately is not.

With the Shaw Festival, NOTL also has a proliferation of beautiful B&Bs to choose from and the town itself is very romantic. Day tripping to the falls or one of the many wineries in the area would be easy from there as well.

This is where I stay in the Niagara Falls/Niagara on the Lake area. I have never seen a child at the B&B. The breakfasts are to die for. I am sorry I am not going this year as I salivate about those breakfasts writing this.

For added romance, request the upstairs room with the jacuzzi. The B&B rooms are in a separate wing (the owners added on to their house) and very private.

The Stamford Village B&B is just outside Niagara Falls and only about 15-20 minutes from the plays at the Shaw. When I go to the area, I am generally seeing plays and do not find the location to be an inconvenience. I find I get more for my money at the Stamford Village B&B than I would by staying at a B&B in NOTL. I also get away from all the hoopla in NOTL.

There is also an excellent Italian restaurant across the street from the B&B if you are relaxing in the evening and don't want to go far.

For maximum convenience, a bank with an ATM is around the corner. That is where I always go first--to pick up Canadian cash upon arrival.

I have stayed there twice and would certainly return if my travels take me to the area.

Oh - stayed at the Grand Victorian directly on the Niagar parkway in Niagara on the lake - across from the gorge and the path that leads along it. Close to town but we drove happily into Niagara Falls for the Casino one of our nights there and it was about twenty minutes right along the Parkway. There is no way that children could be accomodated here and the breakfast was fabulous - we are from Toronto but we loved the fact that all of the guests there were from all over the States....very intersting to learn from them!!
