Niagara falls

My husband and I are going to Niagara falls the 1st of May and only have a couple of days- what are must see attractions and what can we skip? It will be just us-no kids.

I am assuming you mean what to see in addition to the falls themselves.

Two features other than just standing at the railing getting wet from the spray are: 1. The Maid of the Mist boat which should give you a good dose of spray.
2. Descend to the tunnel under the falls and walk to a window in the rocks near the base of the plunge basin.
The power of that much water falling that vertical distance is apparent.

There is a charge for both of those excursions, but if your objective is to see the falls, then go for it.

PS I did my excursion from the Canadian side. Definitely visit Canada, but I think you will need a passport. Not sure of that, but the laws have changed on the US side.

Getting into Canada will not be the main problem; returning to the US is the headache cause.

So far no passports required until January 2008...

On the US side, stop at Goat Island State Park and purchase a discount Attractions Pass.. That includes the Maid of the Mist, Cave of the Winds, the Peoplemover and other attractions of interest... these attractions are less crowded and better than their counterparts on the Canadian side...

On the Canadian side, you will have a panoramic view of the Falls as opposed to the US side where you watch the water going over... the Canadian side also has the tacky tourist attractions... One consideration should be to visit the Niagara Wine region, just 20 minutes away at Niagara-on-the-Lake... great wineries, restaurants, and beautiful vineyards...

April starts the Shaw Festival, www.shawfest.com with several notable plays...

You MUST do the "Maid of the Mist" boat that takes you right next to the Falls!
