NH to Nova Scotia

If you were traveling to Nova Scotia for a week, would you drive (~10+ hours) or pay almost $1000 to take the ferry from Portland to Yarmouth? I've been struggling with this decision for weeks -- the lovel cottage I rented for a week was less than the cost of the ferry.

You would drive +/- 10 hours.

Hitting Hopewell Cape, NB on the way in...

Nova Scotia isn't one of those provinces/states into which you just set one foot, merely to say you've been there.

It ain't on the way to anywhere, so the only purpose for being there is seeing it!

With that in mind, you have to drive the rural paths to make the best of what's there, and to drive in and out affords reason to take at least two unique paths.

You take that ferry, and then you're in remote Yarmouth, with the best of NS more than 7 hours away!!

If you're making your 3rd or 4th trip to NS, then hey, I'm all for a passage around the southwestern shore, but how many times are you likely to GO to NS?, seeing as it isn't on the waaaaaaay to anywhere else.

It's a no-brainer...
