Driving Okanagan to Canmore

Doing some fine tuning to our self driving itinerary and wanting some feedback on whether we are trying to do too much by spending a day driving from Kelowna to Canmore. Should we stop overnight somewhere in between?

As a side issue as most of you speak highly of Beckers chalets in Jasper would you choose the riverside chalets or the deluxe log chalets for 2?

Thanks - your help has been invaluable so far!

You should be able to drive from Kelowna to Canmore easily in one day as long as you don't make any really really long stops along the way. It shouldn't take more than 5 to 6 hours driving time, and unless you have a particular destination in mind, I don't think that it is worth stopping overnight along the way.

We prefer the deluxe log chalets at Becker's because they are more modern (downside is that the fireplaces in the deluxe chalets use gas not wood)

As an aside, KA, although this has nothing to do with driving time, you may be interested in Borealis's review of Rocky Mountain Ski Lodge in Canmore:

Thanks Borealis you have confirmed my thoughts on the drive.

Still agonising over riverside versus modern with Beckers - don't want to be disappointed.

Judy thanks also for the note - accomodation taken care of in Canmore.

The only accomodation decision left is still the Okanagan/Kelowna.

KA,
We also prefer the deluxe log chalets at Beckers. If sitting beside the river is important to you, there are several beautiful sitting areas with benches placed riverside on Becker's site. The cabins that are riverside really don't have any advantage over the deluxe ones (other than the wood burning fireplace as Borealis mentioned).
Hope this helps, have fun!
