New Year's Help
Thinking about going to Montreal for a 3 day weekend around New Year's. First, can anyone recommend a good, inexpensive hotel, preferably lesser-known so that we can actually get a reservation at this time? And second, what do people do on New Years Eve in Montreal? Thanks!

They mug tourists visiting their city, stay away.

Thanks to Louis, we booked the brand new 4-1/2 star Sofitel for $82/night (American) over New Year's (Sunday thru Wednesday) with Hotwire! We'll be spending New Year's Eve at Le Lutecia in Hotel de la Montagne (in years past, we've stayed there as well, but that Hotwire rate was irresistible). There's also a wonderful New Year's Eve dinner/celebration at La Montagne in Le Beaux Jeudi's (Thursday's, the bistro, not to be confused with the nightclub, which is another fine desination). If you do go to Montreal for New Year's, dinner reservations for New Year's Eve are essential. New Year's Eve is real bargain in Montreal! This will be our fourth time.

Donna, what a rate! I read in the paper that the regular rack rate is $C400 +.<BR>Shows how booking a room at a brand new luxury hotel is a good way to save major bucks! They often have low-low introductory rates!

Well, Louis, when you posted that Sofitel just opened last week, I went straight to Hotwire, since I've read previous posts on these Forums about brand new hotels in various cities, whose "chain" is partnered with Hotwire going for ridiculously low rates during the first few months. I tried several different arrival/departure dates and got that $82 rate after a few tries. I was stunned and most elated!
