Need tour and hotel info
 

Hi! I am from Winnipeg and will travelling to Toronto in Autumn 2001. We will be renting a car but my parents would also like a bus tour of the city or surrounding area. Any recommendations? Also there will probably be between 7-10 of us staying at a hotel. We do not need anything too expensive. Any recommendations? Hoping to pay between $90-130 a night. Thanks!

Keep looking here over the next eight months, and you'll learn lots about Toronto. <BR> <BR>There are double-decker buses which let you get on and off at various tourist-related sites, and then caatch the next double decker, so it won't be hard to get a good look at the city. <BR> <BR>Plan to visit the CN Tower. Niagara Falls is worth the extra effort. <BR> <BR>Check the Choice Hotels chain for good hotels at reasonable prices, but remember Toronto is many notches about Winnipeg in hotel prices. <BR> <BR>Keep watching here. When I was in Toronto I stayed at the Novotel. we paid $179/night, which was good for Toronto. The hotel was very nice, in a convenient location, and included breakfast. Hi Shelley. <BR> <BR> <BR>I live in Toronto (suburbs). <BR> <BR>We stayed at the Hilton Downtown recently, you can get the info from Toronto.com. It was $200 a night for a saturday night. If you are sharing 2 rooms with your group this may work out for you money wise. Full service hotel, nice smallish rooms. Very nice and quiet (ask for a higher floor perhaps, I was on 10 and you couldn't hear a thing.) <BR> <BR>It may depend on what activities you want to do, but if you want to stay mainly downtown then either one will be a good choice with the Hilton being a bit more central. <BR> <BR>The reason I recommend it is because <BR>it's located right downtown, close to the theatre district (- Lion King- Princess of Wales Theatre, Roy Thompson Hall for symphony) also shopping, restuarants, the Skydome, the CN tower. <BR> <BR>Another recommendation is the Town Inn suites, which as I recall should be in the 100$ range. The suites have kitchens if that's something you want. <BR>I have stayed there twice and it was fine, basic hotel decor, good size, clean. <BR> <BR>I also recommend you see Bluffers Park in Scarborough. <BR> <BR>Have a great trip. We have a trip planned in May using the North American Rail Pass. Because we're budget travelers, we're staying at the Grange Hotel ($75.95 senior) and taking Olde Towne City Tour which is hop-on hop-off with 19 stops ($27 senior). When I travel I like to find hotels that are all suite hotels or are converted apartment-hotels. There is a great one near Bay and Bloor that is a well kept secret. I think it goes under Executive Suites Hotel. You can get a 1 or 2 bedroom. There are several other locations around T.O. that are meant more for travelling exec.s but if they have space you can rent them like you would a hotel. The advantage is that they have kitchens so that you can at least have breakfast cheaply, snacks later in the day, and maybe other fast meals if you are pre-theatre. Find them in the yellow pages under Apartments Rentals or Executive Rentals. You must get tickets to a theatre event while you're in town-think of us as a first-class Theatre town. Mama Mia is a must or Lion King. <BR>Do you like to gamble because if you do you can combine Niagara Falls with a stop into the casino(if you're non-smoking head downstairs to the no-smoking floor.) Arrange a dinner at one of the fantastic vineyards on your way back. Vineland Estates Winery is my favourite but some new ones are opening also. Take the ferry over to Ward's Island and have lunch at the Rectory if the weather's good. Have dinner in Unionville or on the Danforth <BR>or in the Beaches. So much to do! Have fun.
