Need help with transportation between Montreal & Vermont

I am flying in to Montreal in mid April. We want to spend a few days there, then drive home from there through Vermont, New York, etc. My question is, what is the best way to get from Montreal to Burlington, Vermont. My understanding is we can not rent a car in Montreal and return it in South Carolina. So, we need to get to Vermont and will rent a car there. Is there a train that will get us there? Thanks for your help.

Hi sassier1,

No train, but the Greyhound buses out of Montreal going to Boston stop in Burlington.

Best wishes, Daniel

Amtrak Adirondack Montreal to Saratoga NY is about $45pp.
Rent and return the car there for your Vermont stop. Ride Amtrak at least as far as NYC and then decide if you want to rent a car and pay a drop off fee or just continue on a train to South Carolina.

What we did is just fly into burlington rather than montreal and rent the car there. The flight to burlington was a lot cheaper than to montreal and it was an easy 2 hour drive up there.
