need help from a loco-nova scotian!
 

Hi, where should we go, Cabot trail? would love to here from a native. Will start vacation in Yarmouth, need hotel as well as restaurant help and love to visit most of the island. I need to start at Yarmouth and please lead me the rest of the way. Can you suggest a clean but decent hotel in Halifax as well as Yarmouth.

Sorry I can't help with Yarmouth but there are lots of nice hotels in Halifax. What are you looking for? Hotel type places? B&B type places? Something cheap? Something luxurious?<BR><BR>As for the Cabot Trail, I would highly suggest seeing it but you don't say how long you are staying in Nova Scotia and the Cabot Trail is a long way from Halifax (about 4 hours) and at the opposite end of the province from Yarmouth.<BR><BR>Sorry for the lack of info but if you could narrow down your needs and wishes for a hotel, I would be happy to suggest some Halifa/Cabot Trail hotels. <BR><BR>Try going to http://explore.gov.ns.ca/ and perhaps ordering the free guide.

We arrive in Yarmouth next Mondday, June 10th and will stay 2 nights in Yarmouth. We have to be back in Yarmouth Thursday night to catch our Ferry Friday morning at 9am. What do you suggest. Thanks, Diane

I would recommend taking the scenic route to Halifax and stay there until you have to go back to Yarmouth. Leave the Cabot Trail for another trip. Cape Breton and the Cabot Trail are truly spectacular but it's a lot of driving to get ther and back plus, it is all driving while you are there. Halifax is a wonderful city and has a lot to offer. Great restaurants, great waterfront, great history. The night life is also great if you're into that. Depending on your age, there are various hot-spots that your hotel could probably suggest. <BR><BR>I'm not a B&B person but many people recommend the Halliburton House which is downtown. www.halliburton.ns.ca<BR><BR>I personally like the Prince George www.princegeorgehotel.com/.<BR><BR>The rooms are a little smaller but the service is very good at the two delta hotels www.deltahotels.com (terrible website)<BR><BR>I have also heard some great things about the Lord Nelson since it has been renovated www.lordnelsonhotel.com<BR><BR>A good value is the Cambridge Suite. Hi Blue-noser, I would like to thank you for your replies to Diane. I have been taking notes on your replies to her. My husband and I will leave Portland next Sunday evening, arriving in Yarmouth,Monday around 7-8 am. We will stay Monday and Tues. in yarmouth, {probably do a day trip to Digby & Annapolis Royal. Then, what would you suggest, we will have thursday night free. What would you suggest. By the way, we are 45 young years, like to laugh, gamble,drink and have fun. I also emailed this to you.<BR><BR>If you have time, spend the evening in Halifax. There is a large casino there <BR>at the Sheraton Hotel. The hotle has one of the best locations in Halifax. It <BR>is right on the harbour and used to have (I think it still does) giant patio <BR>serving food and liquid refreshments. The Bluenose, when in town docks right <BR>next to this terrace. If it is not in town, there are lots of other boats <BR>around making it a really nice break spot. My other suggestion would be to <BR>spend the day/night in Mahone Bay. Many Nova Sctians think it is too touristy <BR>but it was of my favourite place in NS. I like the Oak Island Resort there (www.<BR>oakislandinn.com). I find the rest of the accommodations a little too <BR>"B&Bish".<BR>Downtown Halifax is probably your best bet judging by the way you describe <BR>yourself! There are so many great hotels and great nightlife! Restaurants and <BR>bars every few doors in the downtown core. But any small town you go to will <BR>also have little pubs with outstanding music and lots of local flavour. Based <BR>on your B&B comment, I'd say you are similar in taste to my husband and I and <BR>we can't get enough of Halifax.<BR><BR>Have a great trip!<BR>
