NEED HELP DECIDING ON MUSKOKA RESORT
 

My husband and our two girls (2 and 7) are taking our annual vacation and we really need some relaxation and fun family time. Having no prior familiarity with Muskoka or resorts there at all, I decided that's where we should go. We're booked at the Delawana Inn (10 days from now), and I'm concerned whether I made the right choice now that I've learned of other resorts. The Delawana seems fun, but we are accustomed to pretty nice accomodations (and other amenities like poolside bar), and it appears from the internet that Deerhurst and perhaps Clevelands House are nicer. The only room we could get at the Del is in Lilacs which, from the pictures, appears run down and outdated. Also, my young one is a real late walker and not fully proficient and it appears that the Delawana property might be difficult in that regard. PLEASE HELP! Should I stick with the Del or attempt to book elsewhere?

Well, I haven't been to the Delawana for a ong while, but remember that our room was really outdated as well,and, also, that the property appeared much nicer in the the brochures...however, I would not be the one to recommend a new property to go to as I am out of touch..why don't you check up a couple of the Delta properties there?

If in doubt, pick Deerhurst if there's room for you.

Delawana is in more rugged territory, but other than that, I can't comment. Deerhurst is a great place, probably fancier, ....

I hear a lot of good things about Deerhurst (but haven't stayed there personally -- I live too close! )

Deerhurst Resort is a really nice property. There's a beautiful lake in the resort where you can kayak, canoe, paddle boat etc, & when we were there these are included in the price. If you golf, there are first class golf courses in the area. You can also go hiking.
