Need a Hotel for Montreal Grand Prix Weekend
I just learned that I'm going to the Grand Prix with my husband and 9-year-old son at the end of June. I took a quick look at previous Fodor messages, and all of the recommended hotels, Le Square Phillips, Hotel Nelligan, Hotel Gault, etc. are booked. Any suggestions? We would be staying for 3 nights, and would like to pay no more than $300/night. Thank you!

Yikes! The busiest weekend in Montreal gets booked a year in advance. The choice will not be yours to make, but finding what is left. You may well be relegated to the outer suburbs. Pull out the Yellow Pages and start dialing. Best of luck.
JQ PS. Mrs.QReports says to offer our sofabed, but three would be a tight squeeze. |
I agree with JQ; start making calls directly to the hotels and secure anything. I did a quick check on the holiday Inn site and it showed availability for a few downtown locations at just under 300$ that weekend.
I would call the larger hotels first, Sheraton, Queen Elizabeth, etc.. The grand prix used to be late may; now with the late june date, it's a week before the start of the Jazzfest so it's compounding the hotel jam. June 24 is a holiday in Quebec. |
Did you have any luck ?

Yes, I found a hotel! Thank you. I haven't booked it yet, because we have to pay in full upfront (no refund policy), and my husband has to finalize his work schedule. Believe it or not, I'm afraid to post the name of the hotel, in case someone books it first.
