NB, NF, PEI, or NS.???
 

If I had a week to spend in Eastern Canada, having never been there before, which region should I see first??? Thanks

Easy...in order:<BR>NS - biggest, most varied, best infrastructure, best hotels,restos, etc..<BR>PEI - Fantastic in the summer, stunning beaches<BR>NFLD - Really good but sooooo hard to get to unless u fly.<BR>NB - Complete waste of time...it;s the &quot;drive thru&quot; province...u have to drive thru it to get anywhre good.

My preferences would be:<BR>1. Nova Scotia, especially the Cabot Trail.<BR>2. Newfoundland - I liked it every bit as much as NS, but Rob has a point - it's hard to get to.<BR>3. PEI - very pretty and relaxing. Not as interesting or dramatically beautiful as NS or NFLD IMO.<BR>4. NB - I'm sure that there are interesting, scenic arreas, but overall just doesn't stack up to the other provinces in terms of beauty/interests IMO.

My favourite is Newfoundland. If you are flying in the long drive or ferry aspect does not matter. A week on the Avalon Peninsula makes a great vacation with no long drives. Naturally there is much more to the province of Newfoundland and Labrador than the Avalon but it is a good start.

I would like to make a few corrections. Nova Scotia is bigger in popultaion, not size. Newfoundland is of course the biggest Atlantic province, followed by New Brunswick, then Nova Scotia, and last but not least PEI. I live in NB, but have been to NS many times. NS does not have anything (exept Halifax, and Cape Breton) that NB doesn't have. They have coast line, we have coast line, they have historical sites, we have historical sites, they have hilly areas, we have hilly areas, and so on. The province of NB is putting a lot of money into its tourism, to get ride of the &quot;drive through province&quot; deal. Our area is not as touristy, but we are trying. To some, that is actually an attraction in itself. For winter, we have some of the best snowmobile trails in the country. You can got virtually anywhere on snowmobile. In Miramichi the Rodd River Inn is built right on the river, with indoor parking facing the river for snowmobiles. In the summer, we have a number of provincial parks, and some federal ones to visit. You could go hicking, whale watching, kayaking, rock climbing, etc. There is lots to do.<BR><BR>No matter which province you go to you will have a wonderful visit I am sure.<BR><BR>The reason I said we don't have anything to compare to Halifax is because we really don't have any large cities like Halifax. If you are coming here though, I doubt you are going to visit cities, you are probibly looking for nature, and culture.<BR><BR>have fun

I think you would be happy with visiting Nova Scotia. A full week would not afford you the time to see the whole province - you would really need 2-3 weeks. The Cabot Trail is a must - spend at least 3 days in Cape Breton. Some people really enjoy our south shore - Lunenburg, Mahone Bay, Shelburne and Yarmouth areas. There is the Annapolis Valley - very rich farming area with great scenic routes. <BR><BR>New Brunswick has awesome beaches and parks (hiking). PEI is great for beaches but I find it more crowded. Newfoundland if you like rugged natural surroundings and like to party hard, is the place to go! You will never match the hospitality you will find here! <BR><BR>Whatever your decision, you won't be disappointed!
