Music and Scenery in Mova Scotia

We are considering a trip to Nova Scotia, Particularly Cape Breton next summer or fall (2018) Our prime interest is music, but nature and scenic areas also imoortand. We've heard of the Celtic Colors Music Festival, and is sounds very interesting; but we would also like to know more about music in the area. Is there a time when we would be most likely to encounter local music (love the fiddle music)? Also which scenic areas , coast or inland, whoul folks recommend? Is NS really as beautiful as some folks we've met have suggested?

For scenery, it's hard to beat the Cabot Trail in Cape Breton, on of the great scenic drives in the country.

The Celtic Colours Festival is a huge music festival with traditional music at many venues throughout Cape Breton. Consult this year's website to get an idea of what is on offer.

If you go in the summer, I'll suggest two places for starters: the Red Shoe Pub in Mabou, and the Normaway Inn at Margaree Valley. The Red Shoe has nightly sessions through the summer and fall and the Normaway has music most nights in the summer and a weekly Ceilidh with top fiddlers from July to September.

Thank you for the input. The Ceilidh Trsil and the nRed Shoe do sound interesting. What of the kitchen parties, especially around the Lake? dr Or?
