Morrin Centre--Quebec City

Last Saturday morning when we finished our tour of the Morrin Centre in Quebec, our enthusiastic guide, Maxime, asked us to post a report on Trip Advisor so that more people would learn about and visit the Centre. My husband assured him I would write about it on Fodor's, too.

The Centre is well worth a visit. It is at 44 Chausseé Des Écossais, pretty much in the center of the old walled city. The building used to be the city prison, then a college, now a library managed by the Literary and Historical Society of the (very small) English-speaking population in Quebec City. The guided tour runs about 45 minutes to an hour and is very interesting/entertaining. It is also possible to visit the library without going on a tour. A museum section opened yesterday, just after we took the tour, so I am not sure what it includes.

The Center also has different events throughout the year including a Celtic festival in August.

Fans of mystery writer Louise Penny will be especially interested in the Centre because it is the setting for her latest mystery, Bury Your Dead.

When I checked the Trip Advisor listing for Attractions in Quebec City, I saw that the Morrin Centre is Attraction #2 and that many of the entries mention Maxime.
