Montreal with teens
 

We're planning a trip to Montreal in July with 2 teenagers (1 boy, 1 girl). Any suggestions as to must-see, must-do activities, restaurants, etc.? We will probably only be there about 3-4 days.

A few ideas - there is lots to see and do in the old Port. You can take boat rides (either sightseeing or speedboat), tour the Labrynth, and rent pedal carts, bikes or rollerblades to cruise the long pedestrian promenade.
In the evening, head up to Prince Arthur Street for dining outside in a very lively area of street performers and people of all ages strolling about. For shopping, the downtown or St. Denis street is the place to go. St. Denis might be more interesting for teens with lots of outdoor cafes, funky clothing shops and used cd shops.

There is also La Ronde, an amusement park with great rides. http://www.laronde.com/en/ I loooved going there as a teen. You can also buy tickets there to see the fireworks festival which should still run in July (wednesdays and saturdays).

Montreal is a very fashionable city, and for some girls, this is a real attraction. Blvd. St. Laurant has many fashio stores young people love, plus there's Swartz Deli there for smoked meat snadwiches the boy will probably enjoy.

And the train museum in Candiac is a great place, for the right kids.

Thanks everyone for these ideas. They all sound great! I just hope we have time for everything. Can you tell me what to expect as far as weather? I understand it can get quite humid, but what about temps? Thanks.

It will probably be hot. If it turns cool, you could stop in at a branch of Roots, which is very cool for Canadian teens, and buy something warm as a souvenir. If they have any interest in history of the area, you could stop in at the Vieux Fort on Ile-Ste-Helene, on the way to La Ronde. The Pointe a Calliere Museum, in the Vieux Port, also recounts Montreal's history in a fascinating way.

Just back from Montreal and my teenage son liked Pizzadelic on Rue Notre Dame (near the cathedral). It has salads,sandwiches and burgers as well as great pizzas.
