Montreal Thanksgiving dinner
 

My husband and I are visiting Montreal for the American Thanksgiving holiday weekend (leaving next Wednesday) and we're looking for suggestions on where to have a romantic Thanksgiving dinner. We're staying in the Plateau area, but of course we're open to suggestions in other areas as well.

Forgot to say that we're pretty open to different types of cuisines for Thanksgiving but would probably rather save Asian or Indian meals for another day.
Would L'Express be a good option? I've read a lot of good things...
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I would go to Au Petit Extra on rue Ontario. It is a bit of Paris, set down on a corner in Montreal.
For more romantic than a French bistro, I don't know, Toque?
For one of those other nights, try Zen, a beautiful beautiful Chinese restaurant in the Omni Hotel..
L'Express is good.. .Les Caprices de Nicolas ..then there is a place called Le Caveau downtown .

Restaurant La Prunelle: French-Bistro type. Excellent meal (wild mushrooms, fish, foie gras...). Bring your own wine type of restaurant. Relax & casual ambiance. $90CAD for two

Chez Anise: The most amazing meal I ever had so far (including le Toque).
This is truly a culinary experience...count a good 4-hours for the services. $250CAD including the wine

While we're on the subject, would you have any suggestions for a good steak frites? :)

L'entrecote St Jacques comes recommended for Steak-frites and is in a perfect location on Peel and de Maisonneuve.

Sorry for the correction, but it's L'Entrecôte St. Jean; I recommend it also. Steak frites is all they do; their profiterolles are excellent.

There is a restaurant in Old Montreal called Steak Frites ( !!) , on st. paul street ; I have not tried it but some friends have and they like it.

To go back to my original question, we are still trying to narrow down our choices for Thanksgiving dinner.

From these listed, could anyone weigh in on which has the most romantic atmosphere?

From the three you have listed I think Les Caprices de Nicolas is the most romantic. If you go, ask for a table in the garden. Go to www.lescaprices.com for a look.

I like Au Petit Extra very much, but it is a bistro, the tables are closer, and the noise level will be higher. www.aupetitextra.com

I have never been to Toque, but I frequently walk past the restaurant and look in, and, really, how romantic can it be with me peering in the window? www.restaurant-toque.com

Au Petit Extra is just so French and familiar in that bistro in Paris feeling..

We liked Bonapart a couple of years ago, nice room, good service..

I need to visit Montreal again :)

I think of a smaller restaurant if I think romantic; Toqué's vast and ultra chic space does not strike me as romantic, although it's very good....

I like the atmosphere at Guy and Dodo on metcalfe, once you enter, you could be in the middle of paris, cocooned and sheltered, no view of the street. For me that's romantic.

thursday nights are popular for dining out in mtl;
