Montreal Restaurants

I will be in Montreal for 5 days in March. Below are my restaurant choices so far. I would appreciate more suggestions. I want to make sure that I don't miss anything :)

I posted earlier that we are NOT looking for stuffy, fancy, elegant restaurants. But places that are more casual (with great food and atmosphere, of course)...

L'Express (eating at the bar)
Fandango
Bazou
Area
Schwartz's (for lunch)
Beauty's (for brunch)
Atwater Market (for lunch)

I would definitely add Duluth St. to your list. There are dozens of interesting, inexpensive byob restaurants on this street.

We had dinner at L'Express and I think it sounds like the type of restaurant you are looking for. We had 10:30 reservations and it was packed. Although it didn't seem to be that smoky when we were there, I have heard other people mention that is an issue - would probably be more so at the bar.

One place we really liked was Cafe Ferreira (sp) on Peel. It may be slightly fancier than you are looking for but we ate at the bar and did not find it "stuffy" at all. A lot of people come to eat at the bar. The wait staff was very friendly (you interact w/ them more at the bar) and the Portuguese food was really good.

Enjoy!

Thanks for your reply. I will definitely check it out.

Has anyone eated at Le Pied de Cochon? Is it possible to get something other than pig, venision or duck? I am a good eater. But, not of the aboved mentioned are my favorites.

Cafe Ferreira is fantastic...didn't find it stuffy at all. Food is absolutely wonderful...expensive but worth it!
