Montreal Reataraunt for Birthday Dinner

I will be turning 45 in Montreal this summer.Where should I go for a festive dinner? Looking for someplace with outstanding food and some atmosphere! I will be on vacation and have never visited Montreal before. Please advise!

Here are a few suggestions that have outstanding food, great bistro atmosphere, but that won't break the bank:

Laloux: French. 250 Avenue des Pins est(corner Laval).
Au Petit Extra: French. 1690 Ontario est (corner Papineau)
L'express: French. 3927 St-Denis.

Agree with Louis - just returned from a w/e in Montreal and couldn't get into L'Express but they recommended Laloux which we were fortunate to get into. The food was fabulous and great atmosphere and service. If you do go, make reservations early and let wait staff know you're having birthday celebrations as I saw them light a candle on a tiny cake for some diners. We have also eaten at Toque which is in the same league but more publicized due to its acclaimed chef Normand Brissard. Montreal is an easy city to get around so have fun and happy birthday!
