Montreal/Mont Tremblant - rental car needed?
My husband and I are thinking about flying in to Montreal and then going to Mont Tremblant (staying in a hotel right in the village) where we'll spend about 3 days. We'll ski two of the days and find something fun and different to do the other day. Then we plan to return to Montreal for a day or two to see the city before we return home. Do you think we need a rental car for this trip? Thanks!

Bonjour
The best would be a limousine service. At the resort you do not want a car ! From the airport to the resort you should use someone who knows his way around. The roads specially at night are difficult. On the return you should include a city tour of Montreal. This would probably the most convenient & efficient way to do it. |
I would recommend renting a car.
If you have yourselves transported from the airport to yout hotel at Mont Tremblant, you'll have no means of exploring the area on your final day for "something fun and different". And, then you'd have to get yourselves to Montreal. You won't need the car for a day or two in Montreal, other than to get yourselves back to the airport. All in all, I would suppose the rental car would be the most convenient and economical for your travels as you have described. |
I also agree with the car rental; you could stop at a few villages on your return trip to Montreal, such as lunch and shopping in St. Sauveur.

Sounds good. Thanks for the responses. I'll look into the rental car. I guess it sounds like we can drop it off when we return to Montreal and just get around the city on foot, subway, or cab for the two days we're there, right? Can I ask one more question....What would you recommend we do in/around Mont Tremblant for our third day? Do we really need a third day or is there not much to do around there besides ski? Thanks so much for your advice! I greatly appreciate it!!

There are many websites for visiting Mont Tremblant where you can check out the seeing and doing.
Basically, there are many quaint, small, towns - scenic with gift shops - and a few really nice restaurants. You can definitely get around Montreal nicely via the metro, perhaps occasional taxi (they're quite reasonable). |
