Montreal - light show

What is the ET LA LUMIÈRE FUT at the BASILIQUE NOTRE-DAME DE MONTRÉAL? Are advanced tickets really necessary -- there is an early and late show. Is this something worth seeing?

Also - there is a reggae festival to be held at Old Port Montreal during our stay here -- should we avoid lodging / visiting in that area? Merci.

The show's official website is.. http://www.therewaslight.ca/

Might find the info you're looking for in there.

Also, the Old Port is pretty big, so I don't think a festival like that one will be a problem... :)

Enjoy!!

The 30-min. sound and light show inside Notre Dame is well worth seeing, in my opinion. You wear a headset; audio is in French or English. We picked up tickets one afternoon for that evening's program. Partway through the program I thought we'd made a mistake in going. But when the white screens came down (visuals were displayed there), they revealed the splendor of the art and architecture. It was breathtaking.

Thanks for the replies -- the website was helpful and we plan to make it a date. The main theme of our trip is family history -- any suggestions for historical themed restaurants?
