Montreal hotels; Auberge Jardin d'Antoine or Chateau de l'Argoat???
Have you stayed in either of these hotels? I will be traveling to Montreal for 5 days to see the sights and museums. I would like a central location with restaurants and interesting shops nearby. Which would you stay in? Thank you for any assistance.

Both of these hotels are in a very good area - probably the best part of the city for cafes, shops and nightlife, and a short walk to the downtown. The Argoat is on Sherbrooke, the Antoine is on St. Denis. St Denis is a very lively street (may be noisy), whereas Sherbrooke (about 2 blocks away) is a wide boulevard that is fairly quiet at night. I know someone who stayed at the Antoine, and was happy with it. They both look fine from the outside.

Zootsi, if you were to choose one, which would you go with?

Wow this would almost be a toss up. Probably the Argoat, just because it would most likely be quieter.

Zootsi, since you seem to know Montreal, is there any other hotels in this price range that you would recommend? Thanks for your assistance.

I usually stay in b&b's near the area of your hotel choices in the summer, or one of the large downtown hotels in the winter. For a well located, nice small hotel, your two choices seem perfect if the weather is bearable outside. However, if you are going in the dead of winter realize neither of these places are near the underground city (which can be a nice alternative when it's -10 outside), and they are both about 2 blocks to the nearst Metro.

Zootsi, I will be going in September so the weather should be fine, thanks for your assistance. Happy trails!
