montreal hotel
I'm planning a trip this summer to Montreal. I'm interested in staying at the Chateau Royal Hotel. Is this hotel a good one to stay at?
|
Hi Alex,

I'm embarrassed to say but could you please tell me on what street it is located? Whereabouts in the city would you prefer to stay?
|
hi Patty,

Its on Crescent Street I believe.
|
Alex
We have stayed here and it is fine, but be sure to try to get on the highest floor possible. Rue Crescent is "party central" and in the summer it goes on till the wee hours of the morning. It is a great street to be on, but higher will be quiter. Loads of good places to eat and drink. Hard Rock Cafe is just a couple of doors down, there is a really food wood fired pizza place just couple doors away as well. If you like Irish music you must visit Hurley's Irish Pub on Crescent. It is a great pub, live music nightly, good beer, and the food is good too. Another pub that is quite popular is Winston Churchill, but I do not like it as well as Hurley's. When you visit Old Montreal (and you really must) try eating at Chez Better for a selection of beer and sausages from around the world. It is a great place as well. Have fun Montreal is a great city to visit.

uh, make that "quieter" and "good wood fired"...sorry

Hi Alex, Curt is absolutely right and also request a room in the back because it will be noisy-count on that but a great location.
|
We've stayed there and it's just fine. Our room had a fully equipped kitchen (I think they all do) and there's a small grocery store right around the corner. Don't worry about the floor. We nearly always stay at Hotel de la Montagne, overlooking Cresent, and while it is party central down there until the wee hours, you'd never know with the windows closed and/or the AC running. Or, you can sit on your balcony with a drink and listen and watch! The location is terrific. If you'll be there over a weekend, be sure to have brunch at Thursdays across the street. Best to reserve, and ask for a table on the outdoor deck.
