Montreal cigars
Does anyone know of where to buy cigars (specifically Monte Cristo #2) near Montreal? So far all the places suggested to us seem very sketchy and over priced. They won't even let you see the cigars, but want you to buy it, then look at it, which is very shady. Thanks for any tips!

On Peel street, just below de Maisonneuve, there is a cigar shop; the lady is low key and very nice, my husband buys his MC's there.
Can't remember the name on the sign, there are pens and wineglasses in the window, the shop is a few doors from Alexandre bar. |

You mentioned that they wouldn't let you see the cigars....
I believe Quebec passed the same legislation as Ontario where tobacco products can no longer be on display by law as of May or June 2008. This means that cigarettes, cigars, chewing tobacco, etc. must be kept behind covered shelves. I believe retailers cannot tell customers what products are available and mention brand names. That is likely why the first poster said that he/she had to make a purchase before being able to see the product. The retailer was likely not "sketchy" but following the law. |
neli- that's exactly right.
There's also a cigar lounge on crescent i believe, it's quite popular with celebs when they're in town...I believe it's called Stogies but I could be mistaken. Layla %%- |
