Montreal BYOB Restaurant Recommendations
 

Has anyone ate at Vents du Sud in Montreal? I hear it is a basque restaurant. I was wondering if it is any good. Also, if anyone has a recommendation for another good BYOB restaurant (preferably French) within walking distance to a Metro stop I would love to hear about it. Going there next Thurs and will be there for 2 nights.

Message: Cookie, can't help with Vents du Sud, but have three suggestions for BYOBs:
Les Infideles, 771 Rachel est, 514-528-8555 (Mont-Royal metro, 10 minute walk)
La Colombe, 554 Duluth est, 514-849-8844
(Mont-Royal metro, 10 minute walk)
Le Pegasse, 1831 Gilford, 514-0487 (Laurier metro, 15 minute walk).
All three are completely non-smoking (not knowing whether you do or not). Some BYOBs will have two seatings on weekends, so call in advance and make a reservation. If needed, I can come up with several other suggestions. Bon appetit! JQ

Duluth Street near St. Denis, and Prince Arthur street near Square St. Louis, are where many BYOB places are located. Both areas are a 10 minute walk from the Sherbrooke Metro stop. The ones on Duluth are a bit less touristy. A few of our favorites on Duluth
Le Jardin des Panos - A bustling, noisy, very popular Greek place with the best brochettes I've had anywhere.
Khybler Pass - Afghan food.
Eduardo's - Good basic Italian.

There are many more in the same general area. Most don't take reservations, so bring your wine and stand in line :-)

Try and get your wine at a government liquor store (SAQ) - ther are lots of small grocery stores in the area, but their wine selections are limited.

Hi Cookie, I use this site all the time when planning our trips to Montreal. You can browse the restaurants and pick something out here. Personally, I have hardly ever had a bad meal in Montreal, I am sure you will have a lovely time!
