Hi "wow", thanks for your concern, and good wishes. Vttraveler, internet...absolutely...we're on Skype on a daily basis. If not on-line, then we communicate with him on the Fido cellphone I got him...incoming free! Cold..... just got off the line with him Mon 17th 10pm Montreal time...it was 4 degrees Celsius ! He's planning to visit his friends in Los Angeles on the Thanksgiving weekend Oct 4th to 9th. (I thought Thanksgiving was always in November?) Take care.

Hi, Rambo: Canadian Thanksgiving is in October. This year Thanksgiving Day in Canada is Monday, October 8th. US Thanksgiving is in November but obviously, that will not be a holiday @ McGill!

US thanksgiving is the 4th Thursday in November--early this year on November 22nd because Nov 1st is a Thursday
Canadian Thanksgiving usually/often coincides with our columbus Day holiday in the US.
Last year the weather was really warm that day. We went to the Eastern Township area (east of Montreal) with our son and ate outside along a lake. Usually outdoor cafes aren't possible by that time of year

Rambo: Right! Your son's friends @ U of SC will celebrate Thanksgiving in November as Vttraveler has pointed out.
