Montreal - 3 or 4 nights
I am going to Montreal with my wife this summer and planned to stay for 3 nights in Montreal before heading off to Quebec City. I am having second thoughts and think I might need 4 nts in Montreal. Any advice would be appreciated. We probably won't go to any museums, but will like to do the following: Walk around Old Montreal, Downtown, and Plateau areas. Take a double decker tour where you can hop on and off, visit the Olympic Site, Biodome, and maybe a few other places, and take a bike ride. keep in mind 3 nts means only 2 full days, and 4 nts means 3 full days. Thanks so much for your advice, it is greatly appreciated.

I would go for 4 nights. We went for 6 last October and it wasn't enough for us. Montreal is one of our favourite cities and we are hoping to buy a condo there in the not so distant future.

I agree that 4 nights would be better; you won't feel so rushed; spending a few hours people watching at a terrace on st denis could be something you want to do. Art gallery hopping on St. Paul street , etc...

Thanks for your advice, I added an extra night to my trip. I am really looking forward to my visit to Montreal.

Glad you took the plunge; it was an unusually warm few days recently in montreal, I have to recommend my favorite summer restaurant, we had dinner outside there last night, Il Cortile, I'm posting it now since I took a card and have it on hand, it's a sheltered outdoor space for dining that is quite unique, the food is excellent, 1442 Sherbrooke st. west, 842 8230, you absolutely need reservations.
Their caesar salad is made of cut up endives, to die for. Depending on where you'll stay, more recommendations can come later. |
That sounds like a great restaurant, We will will definitely try it. We will be staying in the Old Montreal area at the hotel Place D'Armes.
Thanks again for your recommendations. |
We LOVED the Place d'Armes. What a beautiful, hip hotel--very stylish. We lucked out with a corner room, so it was quite large with tons of windows. I think that we may have been "upgraded" since we were only there for 1 day/1 night after spending several days in Quebec City. I wouldn't sacrifice a day in QC for another day in Montreal. While we loved our hotel in Montreal, we really LOVED Quebec City. The cities are so different.

Thanks, I am really excited about the Place d'Armes. I did not take a day away from Quebec City, I just added a day to Montreal. I will stay 4 nts in Montreal then 3 nts in QC.
Thanks again for your your help and advice. |
