Montreal - 1st class hotel
We are looking into going to Montreal this summer. Looking for a 1st class hotel with good service and location. Any suggestions?
I have heard the Queen Elizabeth is nice as well as the Omni. Anyone have any comments?

Montreal has many excellent hotels; the Ritz Carlton and the Loew's Vogue are probably the most sophisticated. The Inter-Continental, the Bonaventure Hilton, and the Marriott are all within a couple of blocks of the Queen Elizabeth. All of these are excellent first class hotels.
BAK
My top recommendation would be Hotel Vogue for the hotel and it's location (one block over from Crescent, half a block from St-Catherine). The Queen Elizabeth is okay (and very popular with tourists and families) if you want to be right in the downtown business district and connected to the underground.

Thanks for your replies. I neglected to mention that we will be traveling with our 10 year old son. I have been told that the Hotel Vogue has no pool. Is this true? We need a hotel that will have some sort of "kick back and relax" feature for a child but still be top notch. Any more suggestions?

Marilyn, I thnk you may be right about the Vogue not having a pool, although it's an exquisite hotel. If I were traveling with children, I would probably opt for the Bonaventure Hilton. It's very quiet, high atop the Place Bonaventure complex, and centrally located near many good restaurants and Montreal's nightlife. It's connected to Montreal's underground tunnel and shopping network, as well as the métro. The hotel has a wonderful pool and terrace area that's decorated like a Japanese garden. The Inter-Continental is indeed a fabulous hotel, but unless you have business at the World Trade Center or the Palais de congrés, you may feel that you're a little out the 'heart' of the city. Personally, I'm not that keen about the Queen Elizabeth, but I haven't stayed there in years. Bienvenue à Montréal!

I studied in hotel mgn and must say I found THE place to stay in Montreal. It's a small 27 room hotel. It's a 4 1/2* inn. It's called Auberge du Vieux-Port. I suggest you give them a call 1 888 660 7678. It's in the Old Montreal section near the inter contanental.
