Marriott Chateau Champlain/Shopping
Can anyone tell me if the Marriott Chateau Champlain in Montreal is connected to underground shopping?? Or relatively close to an entrance as we are travelling in winter and would like to stay indoors.
thanks!

The Marriott is not connected to underground shopping but it is connected to the metro system which can take you to Metro McGill (by switching lines at Lionel Groulx) which takes you straight into the underground shopping.

It's only a block and a bit away from an entrance to the underground tunnels, so you won't be out in the cold for very long. Just walk over the the Queen Elizabeth Hotel, and you're in business.

BAK

In fact IT IS connected to all of the underground shopping. There is an elevator off the lobby in the Chateau Champlain which takes you down to the metro stop. From there you through the metro station to the train station. Just follow the signs to the Gare. From the train station, you take the escalator to Place Ville Marie, which is a fine shopping area in its own right. It, in turn is connected to all of the other shopping areas in Montreal's great underground city. All of these can be visited without ever stepping outdoors. I have done it many times myself.
Murray.

Thank you Murray! Actually we found out by ourselves as we were there this past weekend (needed to fly USAir by 12/31 to keep preferred status). It was very easy to get to Ville Marie, Eaton Center and even Cours Mont Royal. Bargains everywhere as after Christmas sales were going on. I'd do it again in a heartbeat.
