Lunenburg vs Annapolis Royal
I will be visiting Nova Scotia for three days in October. Will be taking the CAT. Two nights will be spent at Halifax. My plan is to drive from Yarmouth to Halifax on either the Evangeline Route or the Lighthouse Route, and return via the other route on the third day. On the third night, I will stay somewhere along the shore, so that the drive to the ferry terminal is not as long.
I am debating if I should pick Lunenburg or Annapolis Royal for the overnight stay. Each town has its own charm. I do want a place that has a bit of "nightlife" and good restaurants and bars to go to. Any suggestiosn would help! Thanks! |
We returned in early August and visited both places. Of course we had small kids and hence "nightlife" was not a biggie on our agenda. That said, however, my impression would be that Lunenburg would be more in line with nightlife. There are any number of restaurants with bars on the waterfront area in Lunenberg. Annapolis Royal seemed to us a bit more sedate. Perhaps others will lend their opinion.

I agree, Lunenburg would be the place to go. We were going to drive to Yarmouth from Halifax but it was too much time on the road. It's alot of driving time for such a short time period.

Thanks for the advice! I think the drive from Yarmouth to Halifax is suppose to be 3.5 hours? Of course, with stretch breaks and sightseeing along the way, it may probably be much longer.
