Lodging Victoria/Sooke

We're planning a trip at the end of June. 3 nites in Victoria (are 2 full days enough for Victoria sight-seeing?) and 3 nites in the Sooke/outside-Victoria area. Sooke Harbor and the Aerie are too $$. We like cozy inns, B&B's with water views/location. Any recommendations?

Three days in Sooke would probably be too long for me, but you could check out the cabins at Point-no-Point beyond Sooke.

I moved to Victoria three months ago and figure it will take me at least a year to see all the sites, never mind the stuff up-island.

But two days can give you a good over view.

Don't stay in the Grand Pacific hotel. It is way over priced and to my mind no nicer than much cheaper hotels.

There are lots of B&B's in the city.

http://www.dashwoodmanor.com/ Is a 5 minute walk from the harbour, near a nice hiking park and "Cook street village" (two blocks long, but good restaurants). It looks out towards Washington state.

Some B&B's will have ocean views but will not be on the water.

Sooke has lots of B&B's other than Sooke Harbour house. They should be accessible through the above web site.

Things to see in Victoria: walk around the harbour front and visit downtown museums; Butchart Gardens (you will need a car or take a bus); lots of opportunity for hiking and biking in the city like Beacon Hill, Mount Doug; golfing also; Oak Bay marina and the scenic dirve around the east side of the city. The drive to Sooke is amazing. I have yet to visit the Sooke potholes, but that also sounds great.

Has anyone heard of the Blue Sky B & B in the Sooke Harbor area?

Haven't heard of Blue Sky B&B, but we found what looks like a wonderful private cabin in the forest about 10 minutes outside of Sooke. It's called Winter Creek House and the web page is
http://www.wintercreekhouse.com/ It costs $195 CDN. We won't be there until August so I can't giv eyou a first hand report.

We are brand new (new house) in Sooke and would have loved to have you. Furnishings are all contemporary and new, king size bed, private patio, fabulous inroom jacuzzi. I've had such great feedback, we just need to be known!
