Lobster Suppers - yes or no?

We are thinking about trying New Glasgow Lobster Suppers. Is it worth it? Is the food good? The rate is, with taxes, $35.00 Cdn. for a 1 1/2 lb. lobster with all the fixings. Or, is there a better place to get a well-prepared lobster dinner on PEI in July?

It has been awhile since I have eaten at the New Glasgow Supper but it is worth the price. There are several suppers around the Island - all are comparable.

I lived in New Glasgow for a summer while working in Cavendish and I have been to other lobster dinners including North Rustico. Noth Rustico costs almost as much and is served in a cafeteria style restaurant. There are a lot of "church" lobster suppers. The food is good but you're stuck in a hot un-airconditioned church basement. New Glasgow lobster suppers are in my opinion the best - well worth the money. Also, you are right next to the Island Preserve Company where they make PEI jams etc. They have an excellent gift shop with lots of free samples - save room for the lobster though!!

Our mistake last September was to go for lunch to a church that is famous for their lobster suppers. Only six people there to eat lunch, and we did not have a variety of food to eat with the lobster. My lobster quiche was a micro-waved leftover, and not tasty.

Be sure they are preparing for a group.
We felt like we did not get the meal we paid for.
