Les Caprices de Nicholas email?
 

Does anyone have an email address for Les Caprices de Nicholas in Montreal? Have you eaten there and did you like it?

They have a phone and fax number as far as I know, there is no email.
We have not eaten there although I have thought of going there, some people give them very good reviews.

I have eaten there several times and each time found that the price was ridiculous, the food ok, and the service apalling. My last meal there was far and away the worst service I ever received in a high end resto.

They have had numerous kitchen changes and I'm not sure they ever got it right after the chef who made the restaurant's name left.

However, the last time I ate there was about 3 years ago so it might have improved.

For my money, I would pick Toque every time.

For us, the extraordinary charm and sensational food here vanished some years ago with the departure of Nic Jongleux (who started an amazing new restaurant, but has since passed away).

We do visit now and again because of the gorgeous art nouveau dining rooms and it's a short walk from our hotel.

But, for a far superior dining experience (except for the decor) try Toque.

Also fabulous is Chez la Mere Michel. And well worth the trip/tariff is Le Passe-Partout.

Toque has moved , but critics say they have not lost any of their wonderfulness :) I think the large and light space might be even better than the smaller one on St Denis. And they are open for lunch!

Thanks for the information, guess I will skip Les Caprices de Nicholas. We have eaten at Toque and we are returning there again this trip. I reserved Cafe Ferreira and Milos as well. I only took recommendations on those, haven't eaten at either. Are they worth it? Should I switch to Chez la Mere Michel?

Julie, Milos is very good but not as intimate and refined an atmosphere as Ferreira; and it's all fish.
when you go to Ferreira, walk towards the mountain (Sherbrooke st.) on peel (where Ferreira is) and peek into Cavalli, the newest trendy restaurant in the area, I love the food there and the setting; reservations are a must.
Or else do La Mere Michel, it's a classic and always well liked.

Cafe Ferreira is fabulous. They are a fish specialist but also have meat dishes - great atmosphere and lots of well-known Montrealers there at both lunch and dinner. I've never had a less-than great meal there. One thing about the wine list is that it is all Portuguese, so you'll either need to have some prior knowledge of the area or rely completely on your server. I've never found this to result in a bad wine, though, and sometimes it's nice to explore a new wine region.

I don't know if I've posted this recent info before (senior moment) but Ferreira have opened a more casual cafe a few doors up from their restaurant, it's called Vasco de Gamas; they serve light meals, salads , sandwiches and drinks and sell different gourmet items.
