Lake Louise Inn--any input??
 

We're going to Banff in July (me, husband, and two kids). I already have reservations in Banff for four nights, but am wondering about splitting it up and spending two nights at the Lake Louise Inn (looked like a good place for the kids). Anyone have any thoughts on whether this would be worth our while (packing, unpacking), or should we just base our stay in Banff and drive to lake Louise, Icefields, etc. from there?<BR><BR>Thanks a bunch. I learn SO much from these message boards. They are invaluable in trip-planning!!

We're curious, too. Has anyone stayed there? It looks like a good family place in a great location&gt;

I stayed in the Chateau Lake Louise a few years ago and it was just wonderful. If you don't mind its price, pick the room with a lake view and you will sure enjoy it. Food in the hotel is not that great.

Don't know that I can help much but we ate at the Lake Louise Inn when we were there 2 years ago. We stayed at the Post Hotel, which is across the road from the Lake Louise Inn. The restaurant was nice and if I remember correctly it had a nice pool. It seemed more like a family place than Post Hotel. It is located in the village of Lake Louise, not on the Lake itself. There isn't much in the village - a small shopping center and a few hotels. Banff might be a better place for kids just because there is more going on. You'll love the area - it is the best trip we ever took.

Whatever you decide, book ahead, especially in the summer! Some people stay in Banff and drive to Lake Louise, which is quite manageable. To go to the icefields is a fair bit further north.
