Peyto Lake was another gorgeous shade of blue.
It was about a 15 min. walk on a path out to a lookout deck.

Jasper House on the banks of the Athabasca River and the surrounding area gave us all the outdoor trails, lakes, waterfalls, and wildlife that you expect in a National Park.
The restaurant food was good and convenient for dinner so we didn’t have to go back into town after a long day.

Riding across the surface of Columbia Icefield’s Athabasca Glacier in an Ice Explorer was a real thrill.
At 89 square miles The Columbia Icefield is the largest in the Canadian Rockies.
At 42 ft. long….12 ft. wide…. 13 ft. high…55,000 lbs.
These massive vehicles hold 56 people

Only 23 of these in the world and 22 of them are here

All of these people are walking from the vehicles to the flag on the top right of the path. It’s shear ice and very difficult to maneuver.

When you finally get up there you take a photo with the flag.

Some people bring empty water bottles and get water direct from the glacier by bending down along the splits in the ice.

Not easy to do on that slippery ice

Rick, our tour guide Vick, our driver

Our group

That evening we had a group farewell dinner at the hotel in Calgary. It was bittersweet saying goodbye to our travel companions. With only 18 of us on this tour we got to know each other well.

The Canadian Rocky scenery surpassed our expectations.
The July weather perfect. All in all a wonderful experience.

TPAYT:

Hey, Thanks for visiting my Province.

I am only a few hours from Jasper.

Glad you saw the places you did.

Moraine Lake was on our $20 Bill.

Beautiful photos! My husband visited Banff and Lake Louise in the 1970's, and he still raves about the stunning scenery!
