Information, please

My wife and I, both 67yo, live in MT (US) and want to have a week's visit to Calgary, Banff and perhaps Jasper to celebrate our 42nd anniversary.

Our age do not allow us do any hiking, but we'd like to see the rockies and areas of interest there.

I don't know if it is necessary now to make hotel reservations; any information related to where to go, what to see,and where to stay will be appreciated.

When do you want to visit? This year? Next?

I should have said I intend to go now, in a couple of days or so, after I find the information I'm looking for.

Probably a good idea to make reservations - those sites should help.

Hi - I agree you should make reservations. I think the Rocky Mountain National Parks will still be fairly busy this time of year, especially on weekends.

A couple additional websites:

The drive along the Icefields Parkway to the Columbia Icefields and Athabasca Glacier is spectacular. There is a path to the edge, or you can take a "snow coach" tour on the glacier. The Icefields are about 1/2 way between Banff and Jasper, so you can do it as a daytrip out of Banff and return, or continue on to Jasper. Lake Louise is another spectacular spot you will want to visit.

If time, about 1 1/2 hours east of Calgary there is the famous Tyrell Museum of Paleontology in Drumheller, and nearby "Badlands" and Dinosaur Provincial Park if those are of interest.
