Landing in Vancouver BC aboard the Sapphire Princess after completing an inside passage cruise. 1. Customs in Vancouver?
I am flying to Honolulu that afternoon and will arrive at 5:30 PM in Honolulu. 2. Customs in Honolulu...how long will that take. I was hoping to catch the last flight out to Kona at 7:05. 3. Should I stay over in Honolulu rather than risk not being able to catch that last flight?

Don't know about customs when you disembark from your cruise in Vancouver.

You won't have to go through customs in Honolulu. You'll go through U.S. immigration and customs at Vancouver International Airport (for which reason you should check in 2 hours prior to take off). Then your plane will be treated like a domestic flight when it lands in Honolulu.

Yes you will have to go through Canadian Customs at the pier in Vancouver. As Judy said, once at the Vancouver airport you will go through US Customs before boarding your plane.

I haven't been to Honolulu in quite some time. Do they still do the agricultural inspection for inbound travelers? If so, that may have an impact on whether they can make their flight.

Take your passport. Makes life a lot easier.

I missed this when it came up a few days ago.

Last April the Vancouver Port Authority and the Vancouver airport announced a "US Direct" initiative that allows passengers to transfer between their cruise ship and the airport without clearing Canadian customs.

"The U.S. Direct initiative allows passengers arriving at YVR to transfer directly to a same-day-departing cruise ship without clearing customs, and U.S. Direct also works in reverse. Passengers arriving on a cruise and flying out of YVR on the same day disembark the ship and are transferred to YVR
without passing through Canada Border Services Agency and immigration at the cruise terminal. Upon arrival at YVR, these passengers enter the airport through a designated cruise ship facility. Procedures are in place to ensure a passenger can be seen by either government authority should the need arise."

Sounds like a good idea, buy I haven't read anything about it since the announcement last year.
