Ikea?
What Ikea is the most accessible from the QEW, driving from Toronto back to the US (through Niagara). Burlington? http://www.ikea.com/ca/en/store/burlington
Thanks |
If you're coming along the Gardiner Expressway out of downtown or taking the 427 south to the QEW, I think you'll find the Etobicoke location a tad easier to get to

I think they are both very accessible, but vote for Burlington.
You'd get off the QEW at Brant Street, and go down to Plains Rd and turn right.. go a couple of blocks and it's on your right. To get back on the QEW, the ramp is right across the road from Ikea. Turn left out of the parking lot, and the ramp is right there. |
Thank you! Sounds good. I am thinking that the Burlington one must be the one I've seen from the QEW before.

I live in between the Etobicoke and Burlington stores.
Any degree of difference is pretty small. To me, the big advantage of Burlington is that you get out of Toronto earlier, probably with less traffic, drive during this lower-traffic time, and then kill the hour(s) in Burlington, while traffic is getting thicker in the Toronto-Burlington corridor. It would be on a Sunday afternoon.
|
Amelie, good luck. I was on the highway last Sunday and it was just like rush hour. It's bad right now because of construction through Oakville and Burlington.
|
Yikes kodi. Well this is the last weekend of Sept., maybe they will be done???
|
Amelie, no chance!! It will go on for the next year. So allow yourself a little extra time. At least the summer day trippers will have died down a little.
|
very true

A sunday afternoon going toward the border will mean lots of Americans going home.
But it is still a lot better than a Saturday morning, packed with Toronto folks going to Nigara Falls for the day. But who is to say. Last night, around 9, eastbound from Ancaster (north Hamilton) the Queen Elizabeth Way was jammed at BRant / Niagara Falls turnoff, and I ended up in front of IKEA. If west bound traffic is really bad, you can go up to Dundas or down to Rebecca / New Street and make reasonably good time. And, the worse the traffic, the better the cinnamonbuns taste. BAK |
Buffalo/Rochester always stop at the Burlington location, however, I prefer the Etobicoke location, NEWER

BAK, what cinnamon buns? What is it I don't know? Do they sell them at Ikea? ...and I didn't know!
