The Chateau de L'Argoat is the clear winner, in my opinion.

Nice. My thanks.
I really should go back there.
It was interesting then; I am sure it is even more interesting now.

And, yes, I think Montreal is more like Paris than Houston!! But Paris itself is unique.

Jilt, I noticed that you recommend Aux Portes de la Nuit on another thread. The location looks great. Is this hotel as close to shops and restaurants as the Chateau de L'Argoat? Also, which do you think is the nicer property?

Chateau de L'Argoat is on a very busy street (Sherbrooke), and slightly farther from two of the best streets for shopping and eating: St. Denis and St. Laurent.

I would much rather be on Laval Ave where Aux Portes de la Nuit is because it is one of Montreal's most beautiful with its Victorian houses and the residential feel. Plus St. Louis Square and Prince Arthur St (lots of sidewalk cafes) are very close by.

You are also quite close to the best parts of St. Denis and St. Laurent and the amazing Duluth St, which is full of restuarants. If you follow it east you will find the 50-acre Parc la Fontaine and if you follow it west you will find Mount Royal.

Judy -- Where is the lodge on the lake in the woods you pictured on page 4 of your website? It looks wonderful.

Dear Traveller2007-That neighborhood adjoins Parc la Fontaine and the other photo you like is the park. It is in the Plateau area.

Dear Sevendown-Sorry I cannot recall which lodge that is. There are many like it in Quebec.
