That's nice. Love is nice. Cash is better. Preferably in large piles of USD in small unmarked bills.

Thanks!

Does your Canada include Quebec?

Bernard from PQ: Only if YOUR Canada includes Quebec ?

xxx Aug 1st, 2002 06:50 AM

Why wouldn't Canada include Quebec? We are all Canadians, and some of us are Quebeckers as well. Face it, seperatism is dead. Landry and the PQ are out.

gary Aug 1st, 2002 07:57 AM

Bite your tongue, xxx. Seperatism is like those forest fires where you think you've put it out and then there's this innocuous little hot spot just below the surface.that flares up at the first opportunity. Seperatism will never be dead. The most we can do is not give it an opportunity to flare up.

Gary,

I think you are really incorrect in saying that seperatism will never be dead. I think the appropriate statement should be Quebec nationalism will never be dead, but nationalism and seperatism is not the same. The PQ has barely talked about the seperatist issue because they know how unpopular it is right now and they want to maybe have a chance to get re-elected. Besides, if seperatism were really alive, wouldn't the only seperatist party (the PQ) be high in Quebec polls. Instead, they are at the bottom of a 3 party race.

Jack Aug 1st, 2002 11:31 AM

Gary, I think you are right. Separatism is not dead, it is asleep... and one should never wake up a sleeping bear.

Zazou Aug 1st, 2002 01:48 PM

xxx: The PQ might be No. 3 in the polls, but who is No.1? The ADQ, a strongly nationalistic party whose leader, Mario Dumont, was one of the 3 tenors for the Yes side in 1995. Just thought this would reinforce Gary's point of view.

xxx Aug 1st, 2002 04:28 PM

Zazou,

You may be right that Dumont is a nationalist and was formerly part of the 95 referendum, but as it stands now, his position is one of non-seperatism. Keep in mind that Bouchard, Levesque etc.. used to be all Federalists. If one can change from Federalist to Seperatist, can't it work vice versa. Dumont seems more interested in economic stimulus in Quebec and has declared a moritorium on referendums.
